CACAPHONIC ORCHESTRA
A hot and
Humid
Eve
It was
When the power
Was out...
With the
Door to
The back
Garden
Open
I sat
Nursing
A cool
Cup of
Drink!
I read
By the slow
Fading
Light...
I wasn't looking
Forward
To night...
The clouds
Ran after
Each other...
White fluffy
Against
The darkening
Sky!
I got up
Off the step
Where I sat
And lit
The gas light...
Holly!
For a moment
It was
Bright!
Then, sitting
By it
I once more
Began to
Sip...
It was dark
Now
And the
Orchestra had
Started to
Play!
Crickets, buzzflies
And mosquitoes
A chaotic
Melody...
Soon I yawned
Stretched
And my eyes
Closed...
To the
Sopranos
And
Altos of nature
I added
My baritone
Snore!
