THE OYSTER CALLED WORLD
I saw them
At me, smile...
Surely they liked
Me, I thought
Let me go
Hangout with them a
While...
Decided, I!
As my wheelchair
I rolled
Fast as can be, filled
Was I
With a sense
Of belonging...
As I neared, I
Saw their smiles
Grow to toothy
Grins and wicked
Laughs!
Why were they
Laughing so?
I wanted to know.
Reading curiosity
On my face
The first said
That though beautiful
I was a physical disgrace...
And then turned away!
The second nodded
Adding that though I
Spoke, my voice
Was a garble of words
And perhaps I couldn't
Even understand or hear...
The second turned
And left
As well!
A frown creased
My brow
Why were they leaving
Hadn't they beckoned
To me
With friendly smiles?
I wondered...
The last remained
Standing a while
Grinning...
Kneeling then spoke
To me
Underlying what already
Was said
Added a thing or two
More...
I was apparently
Beautifully pretty
And intelligently smart
But lack I did
The ability
To capture the walking
Heart...
I was being admired
For my smile
And pretty face alone!
A sad melancholy
Stole over me
As I turned to
The sleepy sun...
A gently wind
Caressed and embraced
Me..
A butterfly kissed
My lips!
I was the beastly beauty
Of a pearl
In the oyster called
World...!
