Out by the

Sea

There was

I.  

I tried

Counting

The waves

And lost

Track 

After five...

I began

Counting

Again

Including 

The ripples

This time. 

I lost track

At ten

And berating

Myself,

Started

Over

Yet again.

It was 

Getting 

Late

The sky

Announced

Twilight

But I 

Wouldn't 

Give up 

As I had

Counted

To forty-five. 

Alas, it got 

Dark.

The waves

I could

No longer

See.

I had

Reached

By this time

Up to

The count

Of fifty...

So I let it

Be

And

 Turned 

Homeward

Happy.

It wasn't 

A bad

Achieve!
